Christopher Karalekas, O.D.

Christopher Karalekas, O.D. (“Dr. K”) received his Doctor of Optometry from the New England College of Optometry in 1994. He earned his Bachelor of Science cum laude in Biology from Providence College in 1990.

Dr. K completed clinical internships at the Dorchester House Neighborhood Health Center in Dorchester, Massachusetts, and the V.A. Medical Centers in Portland, Oregon, and West Haven, Connecticut. He continued his post-doctoral education by completing a low-vision rehabilitation and primary care residency at the Eastern Blind Rehabilitation Center, located at the V.A. Hospital in West Haven.

After completing his residency, Dr. K worked in group ophthalmology/optometry practices in Lowell and Burlington, Massachusetts, for 12 years before becoming a partner in the group optometric practice here at Advanced Eye Care Associates, along with Dr. Harney and Dr. Sikalis. Dr. K has a particular interest in primary care optometry and low-vision rehabilitation. He also enjoys fitting contact lenses, managing dry eye and macular degeneration, and providing surgical co-management of cataract and refractive surgeries. In 2021, he also completed a certification course to control glaucoma and prescribe oral therapeutics for eye disease.

Dr. K loves the personal relationships he has built with his patients during his career and is committed to providing comprehensive eyecare to all his patients. He is a widower, losing his husband Bob to cancer in 2022. He is a proud member of the Massachusetts and American Optometric Associations and is very proud of his Greek heritage. He cherishes spending time with family and friends. He is also a theater enthusiast and has been seen onstage in several community theater productions in the area. Dr. K also considers gardening and biking as his favorite pastimes.
